Today a bird flew into my window, so I went outside and kept him company while he was trying to shake off his daze. Eventually, after he snapped out of it, he flew into my lap and thanked me by letting my pet him for a few minutes, then flew off back into the sky. What a wholesome moment!

About 20 minutes after sunset, Lucy was playing in the fading dusk light when she suddenly ran over and looked up at me like this. The shot was one-sixth of a second, so it’s a miracle she was perfectly still for a change. You can see the reflection of the last light in the sky in her eyes.
